Here's what the humans have to say about me:
There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Ruby, at only 12 weeks old and about 4 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 8 - 10 lbs), was facing the end of her life before it ever began.
Farfel's Kansas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy...they rescued Ruby just in time. This sweet and engaging Yorkie/Chi mix is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life.
Ruby is also incredibly beautiful...with the adorable mask and pure white hair that has come out since she received a good, sudsy bath after her release from the shelter. Ruby is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's so smart and very engaging...so typical of a well-socialized puppy. Ruby is also bright and so loving...clearly having no memory of her scary start.
Since Ruby is just a baby, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion and will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs & humans). Ruby can learn positive socialization skills through Puppy Socialization Class followed by positive reinforcement group Obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with appropriate behavior.
We're open to Ruby finding her forever home with a very active retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a puppy. Ruby is great with children as well but we would prefer to place her in a home with older kids that can participate in a gentle yet consistent training regimen.
Ruby will be up to date on her vetting. We're hoping that she will be spayed when she arrives from Kansas, however a very young puppy like Ruby is often deemed too young to be fixed. If this is the case, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Ruby's spay and microchip if our Denver vet is used
Ruby will be arriving on transport in Denver in late August or early September. If interested in this very loving and fun companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
