My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We have a brown velvet female chinchilla who’s looking for her new home. She came to the rescue just a bit ago, and is now ready to leave and go to a family of her own.

She was born around 5/17/2016, making her right around 3.5 months old. She is a tiny little thing! You’d never guess she wasn’t weaned yesterday, because she has stayed really on the small side. Her color is called brown velvet, which is a chocolate-y color brown over her back, with a white belly. This isn’t a very common color to see in chinchillas – out of all the colors we always have, we only get in maybe 2-3 a year that are this color, so this is your chance to have something different!

This girl is adorable… and mischievous! She is planning world domination when you have your back turned! She’s really good at getting past our hands when we go to get her out of the cage and does a very good job staying out of our reach! When we put her in the smaller cage for pictures, she even tried to dig her way out! This one will keep you on your toes, she’s going to be a fun pet to have! In her cage, despite her tending to get past us, she’s actually not that hard to catch… because she’s bouncing around so much that she might just bounce right into your arms! Definitely more of an active girl. When she is old enough (6+ months), we anticipate that she would just love a wheel or playtime. She does just fine with handling and petting, but if you want her to chill with you, you’re going to need to put effort into working with this girl and getting her used to being held… she just wants to go go go!! She does calm down a bit when you’re holding her, and we do believe that she would benefit from more regular handling. She is a sweet girl and doesn’t bite.

She would make a great “first chinchilla” for someone who’s never had one before, as long as you understand that she definitely is more of an active girl.

This chinchilla is currently caged alone. However, if you interested in pairing her up with your, or one of our, chinchillas, let us know and we’ll see what we can do.

This chinchilla will come with some food to start you out (Tradition pellets), a goodie bag of chews/treats, and a printed out version of our care packet. She will also come with a lifetime of help and support, should you ever need it. If more supplies are needed, we also sell a variety of chinchilla supplies, from cages to hidey houses to hammocks and everything in between.

Regardless of past chinchilla experience, all potential homes will be asked to read our chinchilla care packet and fill out our adoption application/chinchilla questionnaire. If you are unwilling to do this, please do not waste our time or yours. No chinchilla will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out - no exceptions.

This chinchilla is located in Hammond, Indiana (zip code 46324). Sorry, but we do not ship.

The adoption fee for this brown velvet female would normally be $225, but due to our Fall Fiesta sale, adopt her for $175! Must be adopted or have deposit down by November 30th to qualify. Sorry, but our multi-chin discount does not apply while this sale is going on.
