Rita's Story...
This is one beautiful blue tick lady! This is Rita Lee. She came to us from a rural shelter and is pretty darn new to us but we will have updates soon (if she isn't scooped up!) She is about 4 years in age and weighs approximately 50 pounds. She is totally up to date on medical and we have learned she is super sweet to people and gets along nicely with other dogs! She is definitely a people pleaser. Rita Lee rode in the passenger seat on transport and was a complete angel! The volunteer said that she is one happy girl and has a great disposition.

We recommend and encourage you to complete an application at http://henricohumane.org/adopt/application-for-dogs/ before coming to our next adoption event. To find out if I will be attending our next adoption event, please email dogs@henricohumane.org.

Adoption events are every Saturday, excluding holidays, at the Petco located at 11331 W. Broad Street, Glen Allen, VA (next to Trader Joe’s) from 11:00am to 2:00pm.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Rita, a Richmond Bluetick Coonhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Bluetick Coonhound for sale in Richmond, or seeking a Bluetick Coonhound dog from a breeder in Richmond.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Richmond already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Richmond breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Bluetick Coonhound breeders who help with Bluetick Coonhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Richmond paves the way for another one to be saved.
