Posted 9/22/16. Fiona is an extremely sweet Silky who came to us from a local shelter where she was dropped off by her owners because Fiona was very ill. In fact, her ears were so bad (requiring expensive and extensive treatment) that the only option for the shelter was to euthanize her. Well, we could not let that happen! She is too adorable and deserves a second chance. Upon arrival at her nest foster home Fiona had a very bad cough. Our veterinarian examined her thoroughly and found that the cough was a combination of kennel cough, a low grade heart murmur and early stage of collapsing trachea. Her teeth were in bad shape as well. The poor little girl was used for breeding and an obvious scar tells us she had a c-section. So first we made sure she received all the necessary treatment for her severely infected ears and her little heart. After several weeks of TLC (all necessary veterinary care, lots of love, strolls in the beautiful Nest garden, yummy food including immune system and heart strengthening supplements, re-checks with the veterinarian), Fiona was fit to have her nasty teeth taken care of. After that she was like a new pup!! (Bad teeth can really hurt and make a dog not want to eat and be withdrawn.) Despite the fact that she has a low grade heart murmur and beginning stage of collapsing trachea, her condition can be easily managed with proper medication (2pills 2x/day) and she definitely has several years of quality life ahead now. We think that Fiona has food allergies and she needs to be on a grain free diet including supplements such as salmon oil. Fiona is a Silky, she is about 8 years old, and she weighs about 13 lbs. She is house trained, she is very well behaved and rarely ever barks (usually when she wants food :). She is extremely sweet and gentle, very eager to please her person and she is very easy going. She gets along great with other dogs and is fine with cats. For Fiona we would like a quiet home with no children. Fiona is spayed, she has been thoroughly examined by our veterinarian, she had her teeth cleaned (including a few extractions), she is current on vaccinations, she tested negative for heartworm and is on heartworm/flea prevention. If you are interested in adopting this sweet girl please fill out an adoption application on our web site (an application has to be filled out prior to setting up a meeting.) Fiona's adoption fee is $175.
Please let us know if you have any questions.

We are guided by the following ideals:

We will always place the physical and mental well-being of our animals above our own and that of other individuals, making a constant effort to act as an advocate for the animals we serve.

We will provide educational support for those individuals who seek our assistance, believing that educating the public is one of the keys to keeping animals in their homes and preventing senseless euthanasia.
