My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PENDING ADOPTION!!!! Paulina is a well-behaved 12 lb sweetheart who’s tail wags all the time. She loves to get belly rubs, lick your hands and receiving petting. She is great in the car and walks well on a leash. She gets along well with other dogs and is very respectful of them and their position in a pack. She engages in light dog play. She doesn’t bark much and takes direction to stop barking very quickly. She sleeps each night in a penned area and doesn’t have any accidents during the night.

Potty Training
-no alerting when she needs to go out. Wears a diaper during the day. I try to get her out every two hours. Even with that she will go once to twice a day in her pad.

Commands
-knows very little. We are working on stay, come, back and sit…however she knows her name and will usually come when called. She is eager to please and wants to be with her people all the time so that helps for recall.

Health
She is currently on three supplements that doctors recommend she continue:
EZ Chew Omega3 Fatty Acid Fish Oil $18 for 4 mos supply
Vert Science DevCor + Mobility Pro $49 for 6 mos supply
Nutramax Dasuquin w/MSM $46 for 5 mos supply

She has arthritis in both knees and Degenerative Disc Disease in lower back. Luxating patella left hind leg, although she is functional. Now that she has healed from surgery, she will continue to get stronger.

She has a collapsed trachea although it affects her quite rarely. She will occasionally cough but it doesn't continue for an extended period of time. She coughed a bit more when she’s been in the extreme cold outside. She has medicine (rx) but I’ve only had to administer it a few times. Smoking does affect it so she must not be in a home that allows smoking inside.

She does not go up or down stairs but will wait to be carried. I have three small concrete steps outside which are ok for her, although sometimes she just leaps off instead of going down. She’s not used to really bending the legs. I suspect she has some undiagnosed compromised sight issues. She is hesitant to enter dark spaces and sometimes bumps her head on something to her side. When giving her a treat sometimes she has to find it in my hand.

Food
She cannot be free fed. She would eat everything in a bowl but doesn’t throw up, luckily. She gets excited when it’s time to eat and talks to you while your preparing her meals, then rushes to beat you to her eating area, spinning in circles the whole time. She doesn’t chew and is done in seconds…..
Obviously LOVES treats and is learning that vegetables are in fact an edible treat. She doubted us in the beginning.

Paulina is now in the Chicago area!!! NOTE: LOCAL TO CHICAGO ADOPTER ONLY!
