Penelope's Story...
Penelope is a sweet, gentle pretty girl. She has colorful markings & such a dainty face. She is friendly & outgoing. We think she was probably born in the Summer of 2015 as she still acts kitten-like at times. She seems to like most other cats, but can play too roughly for some. She likes children & seems comfortable around dogs. Penelope loves to sit in windows to watch birds & passersby. She is current on her vaccines, dewormed, spayed, microchipped, & tested for Feline Leukemia & Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. She’s the sort of cat that would move right into her new home & settle in immediately. To meet pretty Penelope, call 540/586-6100 or go to bhsva.org to complete an Adoption Application.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Penelope, a Bedford Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Bedford, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Bedford.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Bedford already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Bedford breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Bedford paves the way for another one to be saved.
