Daisy Mae's Story...
Sweet Daisy Mae is about 12 years old, and she weighs just over 30 pounds. We think she is mostly deaf, although she seems to hear very loud, high-pitched sounds. Since arriving at the shelter and becoming familiar with the routine, Daisy has become a staff and volunteer favorite. Her cheerful face and wagging tail always make us smile, and our dog walkers love to spend time with her. We recommend a home without small children - Daisy can be skittish about being grabbed or getting "surprise" hugs, and she enkoys her food and eats intensely. Daisy Mae must meet any resident dog(s) in a potential new home, to make sure they get along.

** Daisy Mae qualifies for our Adult Companion program - details at hswaynepets.org/policies/incentiveprograms.shtm **

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Daisy Mae, a Lyons Beagle/Basset Hound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Beagle/Basset Hound for sale in Lyons, or seeking a Beagle/Basset Hound dog from a breeder in Lyons.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Lyons already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Lyons breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Beagle/Basset Hound breeders who help with Beagle/Basset Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Lyons paves the way for another one to be saved.
