Arrival Story: Waggin' Tails found Andrew at Detroit Animal Care and Control. His perky ears caught our attention and his silly personality won us over. After meeting Andrew we promised to find him a great new home.

Approximate Age/Weight: 1-2 years / 50 lbs.

Personality: This kid always has a smile on his face! Andrew is a little independent, a little athletic, a lot silly with eyes that will melt your heart. We’re not sure what breed Andrew is but we have fun guessing. He is likely a sight hound mix. His skinny build makes him ideal as walking/running partner. He’d love a yard of his own to run in freely. Andrew is treat-motivated and his nose is to the ground on walks. We are working on his walking skills and he wears a harness. Andrew is puppy like and loves toys. Sometimes he can be a bit pushy in trying to get your attention by jumping or nudging but he is learning manners and is quickly redirected to a sit and eye contact awaiting your next move. Andrew is learning his name but a whistle gets his attention every time.

We are unsure if Andrew is fully housetrained as he is currently residing at a kennel until a foster home opens up. But he is doing a good job at keeping his kennel clean. Andrew is good at the vets office.

Forever Home: Andrew would fit in best with an active person/family. No electric fences for Andrew, please.

About Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit rescue group. Our experienced and dedicated volunteers donate their spare time to rescue, rehabilitate, foster, and re-home all breeds of homeless dogs at risk of being euthanized or sold to research from area and rural kill shelters. We are supported solely through donations and fund-raising efforts. Our volunteers receive no monetary payment for their activities. Instead, their reward is the knowledge that a dog's life has been saved that otherwise would have been lost.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We typically show every Saturday from 12-3 p.m. (please see our website for exact location details). We often have other special events that are listed on our website, as well. Potential adopters can also schedule meetings with the individual dog's foster parent since all of our dogs are in fosters homes and we do not own a shelter.

Our Adoption Process...

We utilize an application process because we have worked hard at nurturing and working with the animals in our care. In order to ensure that these formerly abandoned, neglected and abused animals never find themselves in the shelter/rescue system again, we screen applicants so that the applicant is matched to an animal that is suited to the applicant's lifestyle.

It is our job at Waggin’ Tails not only to find new homes for our animals but to ensure these animals never have an opportunity to breed again. All of Waggin’ Tails dogs will be spayed/neutered at the time of adoption unless the dog is not of age and/or the dog has a medical condition that would prohibit sterilization at the time of adoption. Dogs under 6 months of age and dogs that cannot be sterlilized due to a medical condition will be adopted out on a spay/neuter contract which means the adopter must agree to have the dog sterilized by a specified date.

Adoption Fees
Adult Dogs: $225
Small Breed Dogs: $275
Senior Dogs: $125
Puppies (under 6 months): $250 + $50 refundable Spay/Neuter Deposit

What does the adoption fee Include?
The adoption fees above cover all age-appropriate vaccines; heartworm/fecal test; spay/neuter (unless otherwise stated); and microchipping. When necessary, the dogs have blood panels, dentals, and professional grooming as well. In other words, we do everything necessary for the dog when they come into our care.
