Facts about 5m violet male chinchilla

  • Species: Chinchilla
  • Color: Unknown
  • Age: Baby
  • Sex: Male
  • Hair: Unknown
We have a violet male chinchilla that is looking for his new home. He came to NWI a bit ago, and we estimate he was born around 5/11/16. This makes him right around 5 months old, and now is a great time for him to go to his new home and bond with his new family.

This male’s color is called violet. This means that he is a purplish grey color, with a white belly.

This male is a bit more of an active boy. He definitely likes to hop around his cage, but he can still be scooped up in your hands relatively easily. He does chill pretty nicely in your arms when you are holding him and petting him. He’s a sweet boy, and actually seems to enjoy being petted, as he does calm down quite a bit while being held. Sweet boy, doesn’t bite.

This chinchilla is currently living alone, and we do not know if he gets along with other chinchillas. If you are curious as to whether he might get along with your, or one of our, chinchillas, let us know and we’ll see what we can do.

This chinchilla would make a great “first chinchilla” for someone who’s never had chinchillas before.

This chinchilla will come with some food to start you out (2 pounds of Tradition pellets), a goodie bags of chews/treats, and a printed out version of our care packet. He will also come with a lifetime of help and support, should you ever need it. If more supplies are needed, we also sell a variety of chinchilla supplies, from cages to hidey houses to hammocks and everything in between.

Regardless of past chinchilla experience, all potential homes will be asked to read our chinchilla care packet, fill out our adoption application/chinchilla questionnaire, and provide proof of cage. If you are unwilling to do these things, please do not waste our time or yours. No chinchilla will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out - no exceptions.

This chinchilla is located in Hammond, Indiana (zip code 46324). Sorry, but we do not ship.

The adoption fee for this violet male chinchilla kit is $250.

About NWI Chinchilla Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

I am Ashley Gajda and I am the "owner" (if it could even be called that) of the rescue. I opened this rescue because I hated to see small pets without homes, and wanted to help. We opened the rescue in 2003 with very few cages, but have since expanded and now take in a variety of small animals and have plenty of spare cages. It is just me running the rescue, so I'm always looking for volunteers to help with whatever needs it at the time.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Visiting our adoptable animals requires an appointment. To make an appointment with us, give us a call 219-789-0026. The rescue is run out of our house, so we are not always home for someone to view the animals. We are home most afternoons/evenings, and people are welcome to come visit then (after having called and set up an appointment).

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process requires all of our potential homes to read our care packet and fill out an adoption form. The care packet talks about the care and needs of the specific animal the home is looking to adopt. The adoption form asks questions about the type of home the animal will be going into, what type of cage will be used, what type of food the animal will be fed, and so on - questions to verify that the pet will be cared for well in its new home. There is no application fee with our rescue, the only fees are the adoption fees for the pets.
