Lucho's Story...
Don't be fooled by Lucho's sad-sack expression....he is one happy and fun-loving little puppy these days! Lucho is 8 months old and this pit/boxer mix was one of several dogs that were rescued from some terrible conditions where they were starved and forced to live in tiny cages in a basement. It took Lucho quite a while to get big and healthy but as you can see, he's doing fantastic now! Lucho missed out on puppyhood but he is making the most of it now. He had never been outdoors before coming to us and when he's outside, he's cautious of new things like pinecones, which he tends to trip over, or feathers, that send him into a frenzy when they get stuck to his nose. Once he realizes that feathers won't hurt him, he puts his front paws down, his little butt up in the air, and he wants to play, play, play! He's a goofy and sweet little guy that loves everyone once he gets over his initial shyness. He will need some basic puppy training but Lucho is eager to learn and so happy to get attention from people. He is such a sweet, mushy boy and he gets along just fine with other dogs too. Lucho is ready to meet a good family that will give him the lifetime of happiness that he deserves. File#26562 8/9/16

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lucho, a Forked River American Pit Bull Terrier/Boxer dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Pit Bull Terrier/Boxer for sale in Forked River, or seeking a American Pit Bull Terrier/Boxer dog from a breeder in Forked River.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Forked River already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Forked River breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Pit Bull Terrier/Boxer breeders who help with American Pit Bull Terrier/Boxer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Forked River paves the way for another one to be saved.
