6 year dark ebony chinchilla 1's Story...
We have a dark ebony female chinchilla who’s looking for her new home. This female is what’s known as a “culled breeder” – she was used for breeding at a large ranch, and when she no longer was producing babies, she was pulled from breeding, and was going to be put down. Rather than have her meet that fate, we took in her, and about 15 other females from that location, and now they are slowly becoming available to pet homes!

This female is the first of two dark ebony females that we took in that’s now ready to find a home. She was born in 2010, making her right about 6 years old. She’s a sweet girl, and is relatively curious and active for an adult. She definitely was curious to check out the cage we used for pictures and kept sniffing around. She kept coming up to the front of the cage to see what I was doing with my phone. On occasion, she enjoys scritches. She likes to feel secure when being handled, so once she knows you’re not going to drop her, she settles down nicely into your arms. She would probably enjoy playtime as she is very curious, and she does well with being handled and petted. Doesn’t bite.

This female’s color is called dark ebony. This color is a dark black color that wraps around the entire chinchilla, including the belly. This gives her a dark belly, about the same color as the rest of her, rather than the white belly that is often seen in chinchillas.

She would make a great “first chinchilla” for someone who’s never had one before.

This chinchilla is currently caged alone. If you are interested in pairing her up with your, or one of our, chinchillas, let us know and we’ll see what we can do.

This chinchilla will come with some food to start you out (Tradition pellets), a goodie bag of chews/treats, and a printed out version of our care packet. She will also come with a lifetime of help and support, should you ever need it. If more supplies are needed, we also sell a variety of chinchilla supplies, from cages to hidey houses to hammocks and everything in between.

Regardless of past chinchilla experience, all potential homes will be asked to read our chinchilla care packet and fill out our adoption application/chinchilla questionnaire. If you are unwilling to do this, please do not waste our time or yours. No chinchilla will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out - no exceptions.

This dark ebony female chinchilla is located in Hammond, Indiana (zip code 46324). Sorry, but we do not ship.

The adoption fee for this dark ebony female chinchilla would normally be $100, but due to our Fall Fiesta sale, adopt her for $75! Must be adopted or have deposit down by November 30th to qualify. Sorry, but our multi-chin discount does not apply while this sale is going on.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

6 year dark ebony chinchilla 1, a Hammond Chinchilla was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chinchilla for sale in Hammond, or seeking a Chinchilla from a breeder in Hammond.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Hammond already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Hammond breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chinchilla breeders who help with Chinchilla rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Hammond paves the way for another one to be saved.
