I cannot convey the absolute perfection I see in Jetta without sharing her entire journey.
To have met Jetta in the shelter, you would have met the product of neglect, of abandonment, or of fear of all humans. She would not come to me for days as I sat still and patient, waiting for her to lower her shield and to slowly, but ever so surely, learn to trust what she was most fearful of.
Still, I saw resilience and determination. I saw a dog that knew how to survive without humans, but for what. Surely she had something to live for and something to prove. So I took that chance and we have not looked back.
I can tell you all the "specs" on Jetta. She is just a year old and a spry, petite thing at 35 lbs. I can tell you she is housebroken, that she will thrive with another dog or that she will NEED another dog in her life. I can tell you she is great on a leash, that she will, with work, come when called. I can also say that she will take time to continuing to open up and trust again.
And if that is all I told you, you may or may not think she sounds perfect.
But if I can tell you how much trust she has in her and how much spirit; if I can tell you how wonderful it is when she lays her chin on your shoulder; if I can share the joy and pride that you feel when you call her name and she knows it and she comes running to you; if I can share the warm fuzzies you will feel when you see her smiling from exhaustion after running herself silly playing with the other dogs, her eyes glinting and her tongue dangling out the side of her mouth; if I can just impress upon you the sweetness and light that is now Jetta and the long and trusting journey that this little fighter continues to fight, then you too will know perfection. This beauty has quite the story and she is a magnificent work in progress.

We do require that all of your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. We do not have a shelter, and are a foster-home based organization. Other than meeting our babies at events, we do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org, under the Be A Hero heading.
