My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Marlo! This scraggly little fellow is only 8 months old and weighs about 17lbs (and probably won't get any bigger). He's a Border Terrier/Pug mix, as you can tell by his head being too small for his body! His fur is so wispy, it looks like he has little feathers for his eyebrows! Marlo has a decent bit of energy and is friendly to new dogs. So far he's met several of all sizes and has no problem introducing himself politely. He is a little shy at first, but quickly becomes the life of the party!
For as young as he is, it's impressive that Marlo is already housebroken. There was one accident on his very first night, but since then, he takes himself outside to do his business. He also knows his name very well and it only took him a day! With his squirrely little body, Marlo can move fast - he loves chasing dogs in the back yard and being chased by others too! Zooming around is a great way to get some of his energy out. If Marlo ends up in a home with another playmate who enjoys his silly antics, that's pretty much all the exercise he needs. If he ends up an only dog, some good long walks or runs would be the way to keep him stimulated. He loves his bones, squeaky toys and ropes and is pretty good at self entertaining.

Attention is something that Marlo will never turn down. Though he is a relatively high energy pup, he turns into a blob when he is picked up and held like a baby. He'll hang his head over the side of your arm, tongue out and everything, just watching the world go by. Marlo wishes he was a little taller and likes to dance on his hind legs. He doesn't necessarily jump up on his humans, but he follows them around while supporting himself. At breakfast and dinner time, Marlo is learning to eat in his crate. When there's a lot going on, he has a difficult time settling down to focus on his food, but he's making progress. Though he doesn't get in his crate with a simple command, he isn't shy about being placed in it when it's time. Sometimes he whines a little, but for the most part calms down and sleeps if the rest of the house is asleep.

Marlo stays crated while his foster family isn't home. This little thief is sneaky and cannot be trusted to have the run of the house yet. Things tend to go missing... all of a sudden there will be a Kleenex box on the floor or a coozie in the middle of the living room. Foster Mom doesn't know how he does it, but things just appear in a spot they do not belong! Redirecting his attention to dog toys isn't difficult, but he is still working on some manners. Though Marlo hasn't been around children or cats, Foster Mom thinks he would be fine. He absolutely loves other dogs and would be a great dog park companion.

Scruffy, cuddly, playful and goofy - mix those together and Mr. Marlo is born! If you're looking for a pup who can catch on quickly and put a smile on your face everyday, look no further! Marlo is a happy, healthy boy, eager to please his humans. Put in your application today!
