Duke's Story...
Duke stands up to his name; his appearance of nobility and definitely the male holder of a dukedom. Duke is a black lab beauty, around 2-3 years of age, over 80 pounds, powerful, but yet loving, gentle and very smart. If you give Duke a treat he goes beyond the cue of sit, lay down and happy dance. How about giving a dog a treat that completely rolls over and seems to be celebrating for what he is about to receive. Duke has a wonderful temperament and good disposition even though it is obvious he was mistreated in his life. He has battle scares under his neck to prove it and fur may never grow back. It didn’t change him towards the human race. He is every bit affectionate, gentle and very loving and will lick you to death. Duke is an explorer of all things outside; sniffing and curious. He appears intimating, but just a big ole love bug. He is good around dogs and calm and gentle around a cat. He is a great protector of those he loves. He is very strong and could easily drag a grown man across a yard, but he has a gentleness about him and with the right harness and lead he walks amazingly well without too much pulling. Duke rides good in the car and enjoys being around the water. He certainly has the Labrador paddle paws for swimming. Duke is fully vetted, heart worm negative, on prevention and microchipped. Why Adoption is a Great Option

Duke, a Huntsville Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Huntsville, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Huntsville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Huntsville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Huntsville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Huntsville paves the way for another one to be saved.
