My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Helloooo, everyone! My name is Chloe 3. I am a petite chocolate female lab, 4 years old, and I weigh about 60 pounds.

Before I came to rescue I was living with my dad that was gone from home for very long hours. He didn’t have the means to take care of me and I ended up with ear infections that were so severe that I could not ever hear. They thought I was deaf. Thankfully he asked around and found me a place with SCLRR. But boy my ears were so neglected! Once I got into rescue, I had my first visit to a very nice veterinarian lady and she said – girl, you need to go on an intensive treatment to make your ears feel better. Initially my ears canals were just about swollen shut. The pain of ear washing and meds has been horrific for the first week. After being on antibiotics and anti-inflammatory for several days, I was able to hear again!!! Oh boy, that was such an amazing day. I first started off hearing the high pitch voices of my foster mom’s voice and her girls but couldn’t really hear or place where the lower male voices were coming from. With time, the swelling was gone and I could hear more and more things.

I have been in foster care with SCLRR for over a month now because I had to have my ears treated all this time, lots of love and TLC. I just had a re-check exam and my vet is impressed with the progress I made and she told me that my ears look great, no more swelling and I am ready to go. She did say that I will need to stay on a grain free dog food for the rest of my life and also will have to have my ears cleaned out periodically to avoid them getting infected.

I am a very happy go lucky kind of girl and my foster mommy says that I am extremely sweet. I will always greet you with my tail wagging. My favorite thing in the whole world is to be next to my family. I will not say no to belly rubs either. My foster mommy says that I am truly loving and affectionate and I really love my people. I am what they call a “Velcro” dog because I like to follow my foster mom everywhere in the house.

I would prefer to go to an active family that will exercise me regularly. I love going out for walks or hikes. I would make a great jogging partner. I don’t really like to play fetch but my favorite thing is to go swimming. I have good leash manners. Once I’ve had my exercise for the day, I will settle really well in the house. A pretty girl always needs her beauty naps.

I am friendly with kids but I should probably be adopted by a family with kids over 5 years old because I get excited! I’m just that happy and I can’t contain myself!

My foster mommy says that I am smart and learning quickly. I am food motivated so I would do anything you ask me to for a treat. I already know few obedience commands: sit, down, out, and I go to my place when I am told to. Staying there is not always the case because I just want to be with my family wherever they go. I am completely trustworthy and non-destructive in the house. I sleep in my foster mom’s bedroom, on a dog bed next to her bed.

Ideally I would like to be adopted by a family that is home most of the day so I would have their company. I just love people so much!!! Also I would love to have a furry brother and sister, I love playing with other dogs.

I live here in my foster home with 3 other dogs and I am good friends with them. We cuddle together and play with each other.

I met a cat the other day and I went chasing her so I would do better in a home without any cats.

This is my story so if you are interested in giving me an awesome forever home, please contact your family rep. ASAP. You won’t be sorry. In return I will fill your life with more love and adoration than you can possibly imagine.
