Here's what the humans have to say about me:
“He is a joy. I have been so blessed to have him here, and I have no problem with him living his life out here, but by chance there's someone else out there that he can bond with, I want to give him that opportunity.
To watch him learn to grow and trust, to be playful and silly with the dogs has been an amazing experience..
To see a dog that was so.shut down they (shelter staff) said he had no personality, come to life and enjoy it is something words can't describe..” We thought foster mom’s words would be the best introduction. Percy came to us four months ago, snatched from death’s door. He was so shy and fearful that he spent the first stint of his stay at his foster home…in the bathroom, huddled between the toilet and the tub. But, friends, that was four months ago, and with the patience of a saint and the gentleness of a nurse, foster mom (and her pack-- she would never leave them out!) have seen this gentle, shy, quiet, old soul come to life. Percy is a Newfoundland mix who is between 65-70 pounds. He’s about 8 ½ years old, and he’s house trained, just about crate trained, and walks well on a leash. He’s a low energy guy who does suffer from skin allergies (controlled with food and prednisone) and a bit of arthritis. He’s missing some teeth, and he hides from children….but….he LOVES other dogs! Foster mom is pretty sure her pack of three dogs has done as much for Percy as all the tender, loving care and good food have done for him. She would insist that Percy go to a home with dogs who will keep him company. He does love to walk and to play, and he’s even started swimming in the pond at his foster home. He’s not destructive and he’s a bit of an independent fellow as far as a lot of human affection goes. Foster mom thinks that a patient, caring person could probably draw him even further from his shell, but she stresses the patient part. Percy has rewarded foster mom greatly for her efforts, but it was not a short process! He’s no trouble, though, and his gentle, quiet temperament makes him a joy to have in the home. He’s embraced all the foster dogs that have come and gone, and really, his new home will be the place where an old soul can put up their feet and enjoy the gentle walks and pleasant play of those golden years of life.
