Facts about Sammy

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: Black (All)
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Male
  • ID#: B32Y2
  • Hair: Short
Sammy is a sweet, playful boy who loves to roll around, climb, and have fun! He enjoys being pet and lounging on soft things. He loves to romp and climb in your lap and snuggle. He especially likes wet food and will meow to let you know when it is dinner time. He is overall somewhat chatty. He had a very large polyp removed from his throat and we elected for the more aggressive surgery to prevent recurrence.

Sammy is special needs, because he is FIV positive. Despite what you may have heard, FIV is only spread through mating and fighting with bite wounds that penetrate the muscle layer, so it does not spread in domestic homes. FIV positive and non positive cats can groom, share a litter box, share food and water, play, and snuggle with no risk of spreading it. It can not jump the species barrier either, so people and other pets can not get it. He is super healthy and shows no sign of the disease. Sammy need no extra special care other than keeping his vaccines current and making sure he stays inside at all times. He is just like any other cat who deserves a forever home. HE may be having some dental extractions before adoption, so he may need to be on a primarily or completely wet food diet.

Adoption fees will be discussed with serious, qualified adopters.

About Billy the Kidden Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

The mission of Billy the Kidden Rescue is to improve the lives of displaced cats and kittens, and reduce feral cat populations in Hampton Roads, by socializing outdoor-born and unwanted kittens for adoption into forever homes.
We specialize in TNR (Trap/Neuter/Return) and feral kitten socialization. We provide "working cats" to farms, barns, breweries, warehouses, vineyards, and other places. We also help with lost cats and kittens, long term fostering, SELECT rehoming situations, cat behavioral and nutritional advice, and infant kitten rescue.

Donate to Our Rescue Group...

Donations can be made to our Pay Pal account at or can be sent via mail to Billy the Kidden Rescue, PO BOX 16919, Chesapeake, VA 23328.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our pets are available for Meet and Greets at their various fosters homes or at our cattery at Pups n Stuff in Virginia Beach for fosters who do not show animals in their home. Appointments must be scheduled in advance.

At Pups n Stuff, you can come see some of our ready to go adoptable kittens. It is at 4330 Holland Rd. in Virginia Beach. The Store hours are Tu-Sat 12:00 - 8:00pm and Sundays 12:00 - 6:00pm Closed on Mondays. We do not have cattery staff on hand during all business hours. However if you let us know you are going we can be sure a staff member is there to meet you, so you can go in the cattery and play with the kitties! If you do go during a time when we aren't there you can look at the kitties through the window and pick up some of our information, but will have to come back actually play with them. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Our adults are located at the Catnip Cat Cafe as well as this site. The Cafe is in Downtown Norfolk at 2200 Colonial Ave, Suite 19 and 20.

Our Adoption Process...

We have an adoption questionnaire to learn a bit about the home our rescue animals will be going to and the family's motivation for adoption and expectations about pet ownership. We also have an adoption contract, which includes a no declawing and indoor only clause along with a vet promissory note that ensures you will continue with the medical care. Our adoption fees for kittens under 6 months are currently $50 and includes their FRCVP series, worming, mite, parasite, and flea treatment. Our new adopters will be responsible for obtaining their rabies and spay/neuter. We will provide resources for low cost clinics that offer these services. Career cats have an adoption fee of $25. All cats over 6 months are fully vetted with an adoption fee of $50, including the spay/neuter and rabies. Sometimes we require rental checks or home inspections. We always have a Meet n Greet to make sure everyone gets along. We encourage bringing the whole family, especially the furry members.
