Meet Maximus!
Maximus is a four-pound Pomeranian mix looking for a home that welcomes puppy energy! At just four months old, he's a puppy through and through (as he should be!). He loves to chase his squeaky toys and chew on rawhides. When he's done with those he enjoys rolling around and playing with his older canine foster brothers and feline sister. He gets along great with children. Because of his puppy energy, he should play with smaller children in the company of an adult.

This little guy is excellent when gated in another room but prefers to be out and active with his favorite people. He's more than willing to snuggle with you on the sofa or lay at your feet. He'll follow you from room to room to be nearby and is truly a lap dog, smothering you with all the kisses you'll allow him, or roll over for belly rubs.

Maximus and his foster family are working on potty training and he's getting the hang of it better day after day. His fosters have nearly eliminated accidents by teaching him to go potty on potty pads and going outside every few hours, followed by lots of praise for being such a good boy!

As with many puppies, Maximus is learning leash manners and gets pretty excited when he's out for walks, though he eventually settles into a walking rhythm but needs to be reminded at first to walk politely.

Maximus is very treat motivated and through these training methods he is working on general manners like sit, stay, down, and no. Consistency is key with any puppy, and he's getting better every day!

So, who's ready to let this little man with a big name into their home and heart?

Maximus' adoption fee is $350 and he is being fostered in southeastern Wisconsin. Because all our Cupids are fostered in private homes, an approved application MUST be on file before proceeding with a meet-and-greet. The online application can be found at http://www.caninecupids.org/adopt-.html.

Our Thoughts on Visual Breed Identification
Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable. For most of our adoptable Cupids we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We think it’s most important is to get to know each dog as an individual! We then do our best to describe each of our adoptable Cupids based on their personalities in order to determine whether they’ll make good companions based on prospective adopters’ lifestyles. Dog behavior is not exclusive to breed — it’s a complex mix of nature and nurture.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Maximus, a West Allis Pomeranian dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Pomeranian for sale in West Allis, or seeking a Pomeranian dog from a breeder in West Allis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in West Allis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a West Allis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Pomeranian breeders who help with Pomeranian rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in West Allis paves the way for another one to be saved.
