Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Courtesy Post: Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is helping facilitate the adoption of this cat. We take no responsibility for the health and medical records of this cat. It is the responsibility of the owner and adopter to discuss this. Jake is not in a Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue foster home but residing with the Marin Humane Society in Novato, CA.
Jake
11 year old, Male, Nebelung Mix (Maine Coon was the closest choice for breed)
My heart always aches when our organization receives a request to help find a home for an older kitty. Most people want young cats or kittens, but with an older kitty whose personality is described as a real love, you know what you’ll get. As an adopter of a senior kitty, I can attest that no matter how long or how short of a life we can offer one of these special creatures, every minute we get to spend with them is a blessing to be treasured.
Well, this majestic boy is with the Marine Humane Society, so we are courtesy posting him for that organization. His owner is terminal and had to give up her precious cat. She had him for 5 blissful years. He reminds me of my own boy, Boo Boo Bear, who is a Nebelung mix. Jake looks very much like my kitty, and looking at pictures of the Nebelung breed, I’d say it’s safe to say Jake has some of that special breed in him.
According to Wikipedia, the Nebelung is a rare breed of domestic cat. Nebelungs have long bodies, wide-set green eyes, long and dense fur, and mild dispositions. The name Nebelung — apparently a portmanteau of the German word Nebel (‘mist’ or ‘fog’), and the name of a medieval Germanic saga, Nibelungenlied — is perhaps derived from the cat’s distinctive silky blue-grey coat and from the breed’s progenitors, who were named after the two major figures in the Nibelungenlied, the German warrior Siegfried and the Icelandic queen Brunhilde.
The friend of Jake’s dying owner told me to let his adopter know that Jake loves to be brushed. He is just a sweet regal teddy bear of a kitty. He has long legs, lovely green eyes, his fur is very soft and she describes him as MAJESTIC. He loved to sleep with his owner and every time the friend came over to brush him, he’d sit right next to her.
He is a healthy boy with no health issues. The Humane Society already completed a dental on him, so you know this boy will have sparkly clean teeth when you pick him up and bring him home. His shelter coordinator wants you to know that he is very friendly.
Jake has no litter box issues and is microchipped. He is an indoor-only kitty.
Please note that Jake is not with Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue. We are courtesy posting him for the Marin Humane Society in Novato, CA.
