My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Alana - she is ~ 1 year old, weighs ~10 lbs and we believe her to be a dachshund / chihuahua mix. We think she is absolutely gorgeous, and those ears.....simply too cute for words. She is kidney red from tip to tail and has some faint brindle mixed in too. She was picked up as a stray before coming into DREAM so we don't know a lot of her history. What we've learned so far is she's slightly timid at first but warms up quickly. She's eager to please and is crate trained, house trained, & leash trained. She's also quite the little character and will be sure to put a smile on your face as well as your heart. She loves to play with toys, especially balls (she's great at fetch.) And she really likes a good antler to chew on. She gets along well with other dogs and would really prefer another little buddy to romp and play with her.

If you are interested in adopting Alana, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to dreamhappytails.org/adoptform.shtml . Alana 's adoption fee is $400. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Alana will go to his/her new home microchipped, altered, heartworm tested, and up to date on vaccinations. Most dogs' veterinary expenses are greater than our adoption fees.

DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group, and we focus on the Atlanta, North Georgia and Savannah area. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of these areas. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
