Sax's Story...
This handsome boy is Sax and was rescued along with his other siblings (Banjo and Ziva) from a rural shelter. Sax is a 14-week old hound mix and has settled in quite well at the foster home. He is crate trained and is coming along great with his house manners. Sax enjoys playing with his brother and loves squeaky toys, but if you drop something on the floor you can bet he will grab it up and scamper off to his crate with it. Sax gets along well with the foster's other dogs, and kids, and when it comes to cats, he will bark at the foster's cat whenever it comes around. Sax loves to be around people and is right at home cuddled up next to you or in your lap.

We recommend and encourage you to complete an application at http://henricohumane.org/adopt/application-for-dogs/ before coming to our next adoption event. To find out if I will be attending our next adoption event, please email dogs@henricohumane.org.

Adoption events are every Saturday, excluding holidays, at the Petco located at 11331 W. Broad Street, Glen Allen, VA (next to Trader Joe’s) from 11:00am to 2:00pm.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sax, a Richmond Hound (Unknown Type) puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Hound (Unknown Type) for sale in Richmond, or seeking a Hound (Unknown Type) puppy from a breeder in Richmond.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Richmond already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Richmond breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Hound (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Hound (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Richmond paves the way for another one to be saved.
