My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Peanut Electra
Born ~July 2016, Female, Tortie/Calico, Domestic Shorthair

Are you looking for a quirky looking calico kitten with a huge personality? Want a confident, adventurous, love bug with a HUGE zest for life??? This kitten may be whom you are looking for.

Let me tell you Peanut’s story: At the end of July, this little girl was found lying in the street by some middle school children. Her mom had probably been carrying her across the road and perhaps got spooked and dropped her. She was overheated and panting on the hot asphalt. These girls saved her life. I met them as they were opening the door to the San Jose shelter. She was one to two weeks old and not at all ready to be weaned off her mom’s milk. Shelter’s cannot feed and keep such tiny ones and I knew her chances of not being euthanized were slim. I said, “Here, give her to me.”

I called a wonderful woman willing to be sleep deprived and said will you bottle feed this little one? (You have to feed tiny kittens all day and two or three times a night). She said yes. So with her careful attentions, Peanut survived. She thrived. She grew. She played with kittens ten times her tiny size. When she got to eating on her own, she was brought back to me. What a cutie she had become.

She had been named Brienne but that name didn’t stick. Brienne sounds like a well-behaved, perhaps timid, delicate, pampered girl. Peanut Electra is so full of life and energy, she is so animated, she needed a more exuberant name. Perhaps because of all her early loving from humans, she loves humans so much. She will definitely make her feelings known-- cuddling all over you, rubbing affectionately on your ears. She also is extra confident and adventurous. Fearless in climbing and jumping. Comical. She is really fun. She would be great companion for anyone, including children. She needs an active home with other pets and lots to do.

Peanut loves other kittens and a home with them or young cats would be great for her. Her energy may annoy a sleepy senior cat. (Most kittens annoy senior kitties.) I have never seen her with dogs, but she is so sweet-natured (friendly) and brave I bet she would soon be climbing on them. She loves every toy she has ever seen. She loves everything. She could definitely source a comic strip. She is a very remarkable cat.

She eats wet and dry food and is litter-box perfect.

She is the picture of health and has seven lives to go.

The photos below show her a different ages. She is now about 5 months old.

Her foster mom is Harriet in Santa Cruz.

Contact Harriet at (831) 336-2983 or toharrietjane@comcast.net if you have questions, or send an Adoption Application. If you are unable to reach Harriet by phone or email, email us at Info@purebredsplus.org.

NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone’s best interest!
