My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter!

Sierra, at only 9 weeks old and about 3 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 10 lbs), was facing the end of her life before it ever began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy...they rescued Sierra just in time. This sweet and engaging Pug/Chi baby is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life.

Sierra is also incredibly beautiful...with cottony-soft fawn-colored hair that shines against her charcoal muzzle. Her eyes are so soft with a certain wisdom that makes you think she's an old soul.

Sierra is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's so smart and entertaining...very typical of the cross of a Pug and a Chi. Sierra is very bright and so loving...clearly having no memory of her scary start. Since Sierra is just a baby, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome family companion - she will form firm bonds with all family member (as well as other dogs and cats) and learn positive socialization skills through puppy socialization followed by group Obedience Class. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with appropriate behavior.

We'd like Sierra to find her forever home with either active retirees with lots of energy to train and enjoy a puppy. Sierra is also great with children of all ages and we'd be great with placing her in a home with dog-crazy children that can participate in a gentle yet consistent training regimen while providing love and fun.

Sierra will be up to date on her vetting, however she won't be spayed when she arrives on transport from New Mexico...a very young puppy like Sierra is often deemed too young to spay. If this is the case, Farfel's will cover all costs for Sierra to be fixed and microchipped at our Denver vet to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation.

Sierra will arrive on transport in Denver on Saturday 12/10 or 12/17/16. If interested in this very loving and silly best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
