Here's what the humans have to say about me:
MEET JAKE!! Jake is a handsome 3.5 year old chocolate lab mix. Jake enjoys going for walks, riding in the car, laying out and enjoying the sunshine in the yard, chasing tennis balls, playing with you, and sitting in your lap for cuddles. On a warm day, Jake enjoys munching on ice cubes from the fridge or chewing on a nice bone. He is housebroken and good with kids. The only things Jake doesn’t like are other male dogs and camouflage clothing (not sure why).
Jake was adopted from us as a puppy, but unforeseen circumstances have caused Jake to have to come back to us. It was discovered that Jake has a torn cruciate ligament in one of his knees and hip dysplasia in both hips. Surgery to repair the torn ligament (and his hips down the line) will cost thousands of dollars. While his family loved him dearly and was very sad to have to give him up, ultimately it was too much for Jake’s family to be able to take on, but they did the best they could for Jake in bringing him back to LFS.
Jake’s knee will be fixed first (he had the knee surgery yesterday and is doing great!), and once he recovers, our vets will decide if he needs to have surgery done on his hips.
Now here’s the tricky part. As a rescue, we already have a limited amount of funds, so we will need your help to be able to give Jake another chance. Tis the season of giving right? Let’s give Jake his Christmas miracle!! If you are willing and able to donate toward Jake’s surgery(s), please do so at http://www.labradorfriends.com/2016/12/16/jake/.
Every penny donated will go toward his care, and if donations end up exceeding the amount needed for Jake, the additional funds will be used to provide vet care to another rescued lab. Thank you in advance for anyone who can help us help Jake!!
