My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET KODA!! This absolutely gorgeous boy is an 8 month old purebred chocolate lab. He has the most beautiful dark chocolate coat color and bright golden eyes. Koda was an owner surrender to LFS after his previous family unfortunately could no longer care for him. Koda is a happy-go-lucky boy with a lot of typical, young, teenager labby energy. He will need to go to a home where he can get a lot of exercise. He'd probably be a great running partner! It is clear that someone has worked with Koda in the past, as he knows commands like Sit and Down, but sometimes he just gets so excited about what's around him that he can't help himself, so he does circles and "dances" instead. We think Koda would benefit from a refresher course in basic obedience, and going to class together could help him and his new family form a great bond. He could also use a refresher course on leash training, as he does pull on the leash, but because he is rather smart, I think he could easily and quickly learn better manners. Koda is a big boy at 73 pounds (although he could stand to lose around 5 of those), and he doesn't always understand how big he is. If you are sitting down, he wants to be in your lap and give you kisses. Due to his size and energy, he would probably do best in a home with older children that he can't accidentally knock over. He loves people and other dogs. As he's technically still a puppy, getting to play is a top priority of Koda's. He LOVES to play and would probably be a great partner for a game of fetch. He likes to chew on toys and rawhides. Koda appears to be crate trained. His previous owners report that he rides well in the car and likes to go on long walks, even if it's raining! ;). Koda would make a great dog for a family that understands a young Lab's exercise needs and could provide some structure for him as well. He would probably do best in a home with a fenced in yard for him to run around in.
Koda will be ready to go into a foster or forever home by the end of the week. If you are interested in fostering, please visit http://www.labradorfriends.com/foster-2/. If you would like to adopt Koda, please fill out an application at labradorfriends.com/how-to-adopt or email labfriendinfo@gmail.com if you are already approved. Thanks!
