My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello! My name is Petey and I'm around 8 years old. I'm a special cat with a story to tell. You can see from my photos that I have a lot of personality. I'm a loverboy who enjoys companionship and people. I've spent a lot of my life living in the home of a hoarder, so I'm a little shy around new people, but give me a few days to warm up and you'll see what an affectionate and outgoing cat I really am. I'm looking for a human that will give me lots of cheek rubs and pets, and in return I promise to give lots of purrs and kisses back. I am a talkative cat. I love to have conversations with people. I will greet you at the door and tell you all about my day, then I'm happy to sit with you and hear about yours too. Don't let my age fool you! I'm still a very active cat with lots of energy. I like to play with toys. I love exploring and will follow my foster mom from room to room like a puppy. I know my name and (usually) come when called, and if you pat the couch or chair, I'll come running over to get attention. I am litterbox trained and I am an all-around fabulous companion. I'm a great cat who never received a fair shot in life, until now. Although I came from a hoarding home, I was treated well. I was loved and cared for, but the home wasn't clean enough for me and the other animals there. As a result, I developed two minor medical issues. I have dry eyes, so just like humans I need artificial tear drops twice a day. I'm not a fan of the drops, but I never bite or claw at my foster mom when she gives them to me. I tolerate it. I also have feline herpes and need a special gel added to my food to help boost my immune system. I think the gel tastes great and I will lick it right off the spoon, if needed. It's not a contagious thing or anything like that. Just a minor, treatable condition. That's it! I'm a wonderful cat who deserves a great home where I'll be loved for life. Adoption fee: $60. Adopt a pair: $90. Fee includes testing, deworming, vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchip and 60 days of free pet insurance.

Adoption Process: Complete the application at www.pawsforliferescue.org. We then arrange a location, date and time for you to meet some pets. If the meeting goes well and everyone is happy, you begin the mandatory, minimum two-week adjustment period with the pet as part of your family. You will pay the non-refundable adoption fee at the start of the two-week adjustment period. This pending period allows your new dog or cat time to adjust to their new home, new people, new routine, etc., and for you to decide if it's a match and the right pet for you. At the end of two weeks (some people extend the adjustment time as needed and that's fine too), if everyone is happy, then we finalize the adoption. Feel free to email if you have any questions.
