My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Nettie’s Sweet Spirit Shines Through

6-7-year old, large, blonde, female, German Shepherd
Good with other dogs: Selective
Good with children: Unknown
Good with cats: Unknown

Nettie, through no fault of her own, recently came back to the rescue and her adopter was absolutely heartbroken, as were all the volunteers who fell in love with this girl. Unfortunately, her adoptive family had a medical emergency out of the country with no estimated time of return. Poor Nettie was settling in so nicely at her home. But, she’s in good spirits now after lots of love from our volunteers, who just adore this beautiful, sweet girl.

She is an incredibly easy dog if you’re looking for a lower-energy, easy-going, but affectionate companion. Nettie is so sweet and just wants to be with her people. She absolutely loves affection and will cuddle with you, but also lays down nicely in her dog bed for naps. She walks well on a leash, but does react a bit to other dogs, although we think that could be easily corrected with training. She is selective in choosing her doggie companions, so we suggest a meet-and-greet with any potential adopters’ dogs.

Nettie is also very quiet, not a big barker. She adapts quickly to being a very happy house dog. She’s not bothered at all by loud noise and is generally a very easy-going girl. She would be an ideal companion for a calm family or even a single adult. We don’t know whether she’s good with children or not, but it’s likely she’d be fine with respectful children given her sweet nature.

This girl does have some skin issues that we’re working on. She has been scratching and chewing, and we’re working hard to get her skin back to a beautiful, healthy state. She has a bit of weakness in her back leg, but is doing very well and gets around just fine.

As always, if you are interested in a Saving Paws dog, you must fill out our online application to get the approval process started. We will only schedule meet and greets with an approved application. All staff members are volunteers and are not compensated for their time and expenses. Many juggle family and full-time careers while volunteering at Saving Paws. Please be patient, as sometimes it takes up to 5 days to process an application.
