My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Foster Update 02/21: Chester is doing great! We just determined he’s a “bassador”, i.e. a cross between a lab and a basset hound. Chester has figured out how to walk on a leash and he gets along very well with our dog Goose. Overall, he’s quite well mannered, he doesn’t bark , he’s fully house trained, and a very, very sweet dog. He loves to be petted and be around you. Chester is also great with our children, an energetic two year old and a five month old. He’s quite food motivated and he’s learned to sit with just a little treat reinforcement. Chester would be perfect for a family with young children or a home where he’d be the “king”.

Update 01/30: Chester is a great dog. He is calm, sweet and well behaved. He is wonderful with our 2 year old & 4 month old. We’re working on walking with a leash and sit. He’s completely housebroken. For anyone looking for a smaller dog who’s very relaxed, Chester is definitely the dog for them.

Update 01/17/2-17: Chester is doing great! He had his eye fixed and is happy to be seeing clearly again. Our vet found a lump on his back leg and removed it, and yesterday we found out it was just a fatty lump. All great news!! Chester has been taking all of this in stride, and even though he has to wear the cone of shame for a little while, he remains a happy, sweet guy. Chester would really love to be able to go to a cozy foster home where he can finish healing from the surgery and relax during his heartworm treatment. MEET CHESTER!! This adorable guy is a lab/hound mix who is about 6 years old. We think he's probably a Lab mixed with a Beagle, but no matter what he is, he's handsome to us! Doesn't he just have the cutest, big floppy ears?? Sadly he found himself at a high kill shelter in north GA, heartworm positive and with a case of cherry eye. There's no reason that these two fixable things should stop him from getting the second chance he deserves, so LFS stepped in to save his life. Chester is a sweet boy who is good with other dogs. He just got his freedom ride from the shelter and arrived at our vet where he will start treatment for the heartworm and have his cherry eye repaired. Chester's treatment is going to be quite costly, but we cannot let him down. If you are able to help in any way, even if it's just $1, we (and Chester) would greatly appreciate it. All funds raised will be used to help him start his new life, safe and sound and ready to find his forever home. Anyone who would like to donate to Chester's care can visit http://www.labradorfriends.com/2017/01/11/chester-2/ to do so. Thank you so much in advance!!
Chester will need a relatively calm foster home until he can be adopted. If you are interested in fostering Chester, please visit http://www.labradorfriends.com/foster-2

UPDATE 1/12/17: Chester has had his eye repaired, he has been neutered, and he has begun heartworm treatment. He's doing great and ready to go to a foster home!!
