My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hogan Is Ready to Start the New Year with His Own Family

3-year-old male, medium, black and blonde, German Shepherd
Good with other dogs: Yes
Good with children: Unknown, but likely
Good with cats: Unknown

This one is a heartbreaker. Poor Hogan was picked up by Maricopa County Animal Care and Control the day after New Year’s with some horrible wounds to his face. We’re not exactly sure what happened to this poor guy, but we heard that it could have been fireworks related, and we hope, accidental.

However, Hogan wants everyone to know that despite what happened to him, he loves people and is ready for his very own SAFE and LOVING home. He is an incredibly friendly guy and really enjoys affection and attention from people. He seems to do OK with other dogs as he walks by their kennels, but we’d recommend a meet and greet with any other dogs in the home to make sure. Hogan also walks really well on a leash!

The volunteers have fallen in love with Hogan. It’s not just the sad story with this guy, but the fact that he’s a happy go-lucky guy and just adores people despite this incident. We also think that he would likely be good with kids, although we don’t know for sure. But it’s hard to imagine this incredibly sweet guy not loving children.

Hogan is ready for a loving, forever home when he can have a nice comfy dog bed (or sofa) to lounge on and some wonderful people to call his family. If you can give Hogan a fresh start as a loved, indoor dog, please fill out our online application to get the approval process started. We will only schedule meet and greets with an approved application. All staff members are volunteers and are not compensated for their time and expenses. Many juggle family and full-time careers while volunteering at Saving Paws. Please be patient, as sometimes it takes up to 5 days to process an application.
