My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pilot
Born ~ 10/12/2016, Male, Black/White Maine Coon Mix

Pilot is a black and white Maine Coon mix Born ~ 10/12/2016, Male, Black/White Maine Coon Mix

Pilot is a white Maine Coon kitten mix with striking black markings. He is approximately 13+ weeks old, and very large for his age. He has huge paws – if he grows up to fit these paws, he will be a very big cat. His size, magnificent whiskers, ear tufts and furnishings, copper eyes, fluffy tail, and developing ruff, combined with his mellow personality and love of people and high places, all indicate he will be a large, handsome Maine Coon boy. And best of all, he comes with a non-stop purr.

Pilot loves toys. His Maine Coon roots also are reflected in his favorite toys – anything he can throw up in the air or across the room so he can hunt and pounce. Perhaps his choice reflects the days when Maine Coons were working cats in charge of rodent control on old sailing ships. This long term, unique working relationship in close quarters may be source of the Maine Coon dog-like bond with people. To Pilot, people are the top cats in his world. He turns to them for guidance, reassurance, and affection.

Pilot was fostered in a multi-cat household. He is respectful of older cats and integrates well with other kittens and juveniles. He would be an excellent choice as a match for a playful older cat or the kitten you adopted last year that now needs a friend. He might be OK as a solo, but he is high energy and would need regular play time with his owner(s). With a proper introduction, he probably would be fine with a cat-friendly dog. If you are looking at a pair, he would love if one of his siblings could come along.

Pilot and his siblings Phoebe, Captain and Ranger were rescued by a cat trap/spay/release person who noticed the hungry kittens tucked beneath a log in the rain at sunset with no mom in sight. She scooped them up, brought them to rescue, and their great adventure began. These kittens immediately embraced people and the creature comforts of civilization. They were small for their age, but good food, good care, and their own wills to thrive kicked in so they now healthy, playing catch-up and eager to go to their own homes.

Pilot eats wet and dry food and is litterbox perfect.

Pilot’s foster mom is Diane in Sacramento County.

NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone’s best interest.
