My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Wyatt is a very handsome young senior boy who is housetrained, knows how to use a doggy door, does well on his leash, and he is a sweet boy. He gets along very well with the other dogs in our home except at meal time. He wolfs his down then gets pushy with anybody not through eating. We separate him to feed him so that solved the problem. He takes a minute to warm up to new people but then he is just fine. The reason he needs an experienced adopter (or dog person) is that he doesn't really like to be picked up. He will let you but he would rather come to you and crawl up in the chair with you at his own pace. He sleeps in his own little bed in our living room with his buddy Doc Holliday close by. They were brought to DREAM from the same household but they are not a bonded pair. Either dog would be ok without the other but it would be wonderful if they were adopted together. See Doc Holiday, also listed on Adopt-A-Pet.

If you are interested in adopting Wyatt Earp, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to dreamhappytails.org/adoptform2.shtml . Wyatt Earp 's adoption fee is $300. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Wyatt Earp will go to his/her new home microchipped, altered, heartworm tested, and up to date on vaccinations. Most dogs' veterinary expenses are greater than our adoption fees.

DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group, and we focus on the Atlanta, North Georgia and Savannah area. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of these areas. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
