Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Smitty is a friendly and fun-loving adult 2-3 year old American Pit Bull Terrier Mix that is available for adoption. He was turned into our shelter as a stray in late November 2016 but no owner ever came to claim him. We are not entirely sure he was found running loose, but he is now ready to be adopted by someone new.
Smitty is medium size, weighing ~53lbs and is full grown. He energetic and loves to play fetch with toys and go for walks/hikes outdoors. He has a very outgoing personality, and enjoys attention and treats. He knows how to sit, lay down and rides well in the car.
He has met a few of our other shelter dogs and he wants to play wrestle and roughhouse with other dogs, which means he will need a young playful and submissive type dog to match his active play style. We have started introducing Smitty to some of the shelter cats and he has done okay though we think he really wants to chase them around sometimes. We have not had him around young children yet, but due to his energy level we believe he is best suited to live with children 6 years and older.
If you are interested in finding out more about Smitty please contact us or stop by our Humane Society's animal shelter and ask to meet him. He is already neutered, up to date on vaccinations and will be microchipped prior to adoption. Smitty has tested positive for lyme disease, but has no clinical symptoms of the disease. Under the guidance of a veterinarian we have started his initial 30 day antibiotic treatment. For more information about canine lyme disease visit these links:
