"Lucy" was abandoned in January and found by the police late at night wandering the street. She had severe ear infections and shook her head 24/7 moaning in discomfort the whole time. She just finished a two week regimen of intense antibiotics, steroids and ear medication. She had her two week recheck today and is doing well but was put on two more weeks of antibiotics and new ear medication. She had a special skin bath today and is feeling like a new dog. She is an exceptional dog. Even with the pain and itch when she was found, her tail never stops wagging. She will be spayed prior to adopting in a few weeks when she finishes this second round of medication. If you are looking for a very special dog and have a vet that can recommend you as a good pet owner, Please call us or fill out an online application on our website at
One warning- she thinks she is a lap dog. She craves contact and attention.
Lucy weighs 52 lbs. and tested negative for heartworm & lyme disease.
Adopter must be over 25 years old.

About Friends of Berlin Animal Control/CCCP

About Our Rescue Group...

Friends of Berlin Animal Control was founded in 1999 when a town citizen and the Berlin Animal Control officer worked together to rescue a wounded cat. This event established a continuing relationship between a group of concerned citizens and the town animal shelter. We also have a system of foster homes for cats that we have pulled out of the shelter because of overcrowding, or for cats that are found on the streets. We are always in need of additional foster homes.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Most of our cats and kittens are in foster homes. We are able to meet anytime. We also hold adoption events at the Petsmart in Plainville, 278 New Britain Ave. in Plainville. We currently are housing a few cat at PetSmart in Plainville. We show regularly on Saturdays at 4:00p.m or we can make an appointment that works with your schedule. We can also bring any other cats that you might be interested in. THE FASTEST RESPONSE TIME IS THROUGH E-MAIL SINCE WE CAN CHECK IT AT ANY TIME.

Our Adoption Process...

Prospective individuals or families must meet requirements set by our group. There is a contract to sign. There is a fee for animals that are in our foster care program. Cats over six months of age come spayed or neutered. Sometimes a cat at the shelter might not be spayed or neutered because of availability at our low cost clinic. In that case, the cat will go through the State voucher program instead. Our adoption counselor will let you know if this applies. Our kittens are tested, vaccinated and de-wormed. You are required to spay/ neuter by six months of age. Your can do this through your own vet or through our low cost clinic. Thank you!
