My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chowder is an incredible 6 year old boxer mix who has had a very rough start to life. Like most dogs, he is resilient, easy to forgive and loyal. After being found abandoned and tied up outside of a shelter, he spent almost 2 years of his life behind bars. Sadly, he did not do well at all. Staff members would find him scaling and licking the walls, crying to get out and begging every person who walked by to give him a chance.

After losing all hope, becoming extremely depressed and suffering emotionally, a rescuer stepped up to foster this angel. During that time, they learned about his separation anxiety, his fears, and what made him the special boy we have all come to know and love. This poor soul was so afraid of being abandoned again that he would watch his foster mommy while she slept and the blinds would have to be open at all times so he could keep and eye on who was coming in and out of the house. He has come a long way since then but will need someone who can give him the attention and exercise that he requires. He has spent time with many other dogs at doggie day care and does great with all sizes! He is house broken, loves car rides, going on long walks and is happy to lounge on his dog bed chewing on a bone. He also loves going thru the drive thru at Starbucks and having an occasional pupuchinno!

He would do best in an adult only home as he prefers a lower traffic environment.. He bonds very easily and would be happy having his 1 or 2 humans to be with.
