Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dolly’s Turn for a Forever Home

4-year-old, female, medium, black-and-tan, German Shepherd
Good with other dogs: Yes
Good with children: Unknown
Good with cats: Unknown

Dolly and her mate came to SPR when the desperate plea came out that she was pregnant and
due soon.  She was in a rural shelter and they both needed out of the shelter before the
puppies were born.  Of course both were brought to SPR, the male was adopted in less than a
week and Dolly went into a foster home to have her puppies.  Fast-forward several months and
all of Dolly’s puppies are in adoptive homes and now its Dolly’s turn!

Dolly has been a mom most of her adult life, so she has been learning in her foster home what
it is like to be a dog.  She has learned to walk on a leash and boy does she like her walks every
day.  She has done well with women, but she has found men to be a little scary and it will take
some time and patience.  She is a sensitive girl, it works best to take things slow with her. She is
very quick to "get" a routine.  She sits before you place her food bowl down, she sits for her
treats.   She has been around other dogs – male and female.  She is learning to play, but with
another dog in the house she wants to control the play. She seems to do best with other dogs
around – a calm confident male would be great for her.  She does show jealousy when another
dog gets attention, but is corrected easily.   She is timid at first with people, but with slow and
patient understanding, she comes out of her shell.  She is very food motivated, have treats to
coax her, if she is shy about something, coax her with a treat (she loves hot dogs). She loves to
be brushed and will seek you out for a little brushing time.  We feel she will be best in a home
with a female owner that is home a great deal of the time, so if you work from home or are
retired, this girl could just be a perfect match.  Dolly has been spayed and she is ready to start
her next journey. She is a big kisser, so watch out for sneaky jumping kisses!

If you can give Dolly the loving home she so deserves, please fill out our
online application
 to
get the approval process started. We will only schedule meet and greets with an approved
application. All staff members are volunteers and are not compensated for their time and
expenses. Many juggle family and full-time careers while volunteering at Saving Paws. Please be
patient, as sometimes it takes up to 5 days to process an application.
