My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Cheeseball, our adorable 4 year old Mastiff / Bulldog mix. We are sure you are wondering how he got his name, aren't you? He was found as a stray by Animal Control and literally had a plastic cheesepuff container stuck on his head! He is very friendly with adults, children, and all dogs that he has met. If he is given the choice between playing alone or with his humans, people win every time. He currently lives with cats and gets along well with them. He is curious about them but not aggressive. He only wants to play but does not realize how much bigger he is than them.

Cheeseball is housebroken and crate trained and has almost perfected basic obedience and leash training. He knows the commands sit, shake, and come. He loves his people and is working on containing his excitement when they come home. His foster parents say that he is fearful of any hands coming from above quickly- he will duck or run. So if you move too fast to pet his head or offer a treat- he flees. He's nervous and fearful of new people at first, but warms up quickly. His foster parents are also working on verbal queues to help ease his anxiety of meeting new people, and it appears to be helping him so far. If you are interested in Cheeseball or any of our other dogs, please feel free to email us at: info@bullpenrescue.org.

We highly recommend that our potential adopters fill out an online application as soon as possible, as it greatly expedites the process of finding the right dog for your situation. The adoption app is available on our website (www.bullpenrescue.org) under the 'work with us' tab. If you choose not to fill out an application before inquiring about a particular dog, please briefly tell us about yourself, family, and lifestyle since this will help us determine if the dog you’re interested in is a good match.

Our dogs are available for adoption nationwide but preference is given to adopters willing to do an in-person meeting. Please understand that our dogs are not adopted on a first-come, first-serve basis, but rather we strive for a “perfect placement” so we know that they will not be failed again.
