This sweet young man is Smitty, a 4 year old terrier mix that came to us from our Newark facility after he was found as a stray. This poor guy looks so confused as to why he is in an unfamiliar place instead of in a great home, where he belongs. Smitty is a bit shy and reserved when he first meets you but just show him a leash and he happily goes right out for a walk with you. He is so well behaved and walks like a real gentleman on a leash. Once Smitty has had a few minutes to get comfortable, he is so happy to check out everything outside. He even gets interested in toys and playing a bit too. He has had training in his life and will sit immediately when asked and he is so gentle with taking treats and toys. When Smitty knows you he also enjoys getting attention and can be affectionate himself too. He leans against you, hoping that you'll scratch his back or sit with him for a while. Smitty would do best in a relaxed and mellow home. He seems just fine with other dogs and cats too, and would do well with older, more mature kids. This scruffy and sweet boy is eager to start over in life with a family that will love and care for him forever. File#27038 1/9/17
