Kate's Story...
This sweet face belongs to Kate the lab mix gal! She is about 2 years in age and just arrived in our rescue group recently. She has been a nice and quiet dog in the foster home thus far. Kate also gets along well with other dogs. She hasn't met a cat yet, so we can't say. Kate is crate trained already - which is awesome - and she would prefer a fenced in yard. To give you a few details about how Kate landed in rescue, she sadly was picked up as a stray in a rural county and no one claimed her. The staff loved her though! She was actually there a few months and was wonderful with everyone there! Kate is up to date on all her medical and ready for her forever home!

We recommend and encourage you to complete an application at http://henricohumane.org/adopt/application-for-dogs/ before coming to our next adoption event. To find out if I will be attending our next adoption event, please email dogs@henricohumane.org.

Adoption events are every Saturday, excluding holidays, at the Petco located at 11331 W. Broad Street, Glen Allen, VA (next to Trader Joe’s) from 11:00am to 2:00pm.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Kate, a Richmond Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Richmond, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Richmond.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Richmond already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Richmond breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Richmond paves the way for another one to be saved.
