My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello Everyone!
I’m Oreo. Please allow me to introduce myself because I’m a pretty spectacular pup. Now I’m absolutely not bragging (I would never, ever do that.) However, everyone that meets me says so! My foster Mom says Oreo is a perfect name for me because I have a beautiful black and white coat and I am super sweet.!
Mom will tell you that I’m a handsome and loving Havanese/Poodle mix of about 10, who is loyal, attentive, mellow, quiet and great with people, as well as with other dogs my own size. I’m good with the little people called children and the big ones called adults. “Pal” would be a great nickname for me because that is just what I am — and what I am good at. I’m the best pal you could ask for. I’m gentle, sweet and love to be petted. And I do love people! As long as I am with my people, I’m content. She says I just focus my big brown eyes on you and presto! we’re a team! And I’m so accommodating and easy to get along with that I’m a pleasure to have around.

As you can probably tell by now, I’m a gentle, cute and mellow kind of guy (about 12 pounds) who is as friendly as I am sweet. (Mom says that’s an amazing combination!) I’m the kind of pup that doesn’t take things for granted. I’m never pushy and always appreciative. My happiest time is spent right along side of Mom. I will sun myself while Mom does her gardening or follow her from room to room as she goes about her daily activities. Mom calls me her shadow- a cute, cuddly, gentle and friendly shadow.

I like to go on walks and rides in the car around town. Otherwise, I’m a snuggle bunny. Oh silly me! I’m not a bunny at all – I’m a furkid! Well, what I was trying to say is that the thing that I like to do best of all is to lie next to you or be in the same room, content to know that you are nearby. But I’m not a couch potato, no siree. Just take out my harness and I am ready to go for a walk. I don’t do wind sprints or races, as I’m more inclined to ‘meander’, but I do enjoy a walk where I can sniff the trees and plants and enjoy being outside in our beautiful weather.

Now that I have a wonderful foster Mom, life is great again – but it has been a bit of a rocky road. Once I had a home where I was loved and taken care of. I was just about the happiest pup on earth, but that was a long time ago. My kids became teenagers and no longer had time for me and my Mom and Dad didn’t want me anymore because I couldn’t run and play like I used to. No one paid any attention to me so I was left alone a lot. Each day I hoped that they would realize that I still had a lot of love to give, but sadly they never did. One day they put me in the car and took me to the shelter. I was so sad and waited each day but they never came back. I started to give up, as no one even stopped to look for a great guy like me or wanted to meet me. Luckily, my BFK Auntie saw me in my kennel and stopped to visit, and I came right up to her to say hello. (She could see right away that I had had a rather hard life but was a great guy who would make a wonderful friend and pal.) And that’s how I became a furkid.

So if you are interested in a loving, gentle, cuddly, affectionate– and don’t forget– a mellow senior gentleman, then I’m the guy for you! Just fill out our application and ask for Oreo. I promise you that I will love you to the end of the earth and back – and be the best pal you ever wanted!

Tail wags and cuddles,
Original and
One of a Kind Oreo
