My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our sweet and so very cute Banjo couldn't be more loving no matter how hard he tried. Banjo is a 2 - 3 year old, 12 lb Cairn Terrier/Norfolk Terrier (or so we've been told..we just know he's incredibly adorable). He is waiting patiently to be the love of someone's life.

Banjo has had a challenging time ending up slated for euthanasia in a high-kill Kansas shelter... but is now safe and sound never to be cold or hungry again. But with it all, Banjo doesn't hold a grudge and desires only to be the best companion possible.

Since he is so young, Banjo is a blank slate…open to all possibilities if treated kindly and with respect. Group training classes with his family and a positive reinforcement trainer would truly serve both Banjo and his people. Together they will learn the skills for him be a dog that is well-behaved in every situation. It also creates strong bonds of respect between pup and family.

Banjo may initially be a bit shy when he's in new situations…but with love (hugs and playtime are awesome) and respect (and of course some great treats) Banjo is on his way to his favorite people's lap! He would also love to come along, be it to a dog-friendly workplace, on vacation or socializing..Banjo would love to be there as Best Friend #1.

Banjo's Kansas rescuer (who has fallen in love with this engaging little guy) had the following to say about Banjo:
Banjo is absolutely the perfect little gentleman and the sweetest baby ever! I have been a foster forever and I'm here to say that Banjo is amazing! We've gone back and forth on keeping him (we've never considered that possibility before-he's that special) but we know that we have to leave that spot open to help save another life through fostering.

Banjo is the cutest terrier mix with a lot of positive energy and tail wags. He follows us everywhere we go but is never intrusive or needy. He chews on bones and drags his favorite fuzzy toy around with him (but never touches my things). Banjo isn't an obnoxious barker at at! He only barks when people come to the door or when greeting our other dogs (very appropriate). Banjo loves our mini schnauzer and does really well with all sizes of dogs . I think he would be happiest if there was another dog in the house as he's very social in an extremely positive sort of way. Banjo is the guy who warms my feet when I'm on the computer.. and the best little companion ever! He's been such a joy we can barely stand to see him go while wishing him the best life ever.

Farfel's envisions Banjo in a home that will provide him exercise and mental stimulation…other dogs (and older kids) help that with play and socialization. Banjo wouldn't be happy spending long hours alone…he's far too people-oriented to be happy with that. A retired couple or individual or a person who works from home would be great. Banjo would love the companionship and consistency of those relationships. Being a young guy, he'll also learn that he's loved and cared for…a lesson that results in a happy and confident adult dog.

Banjo will be arriving on transport in Denver on Tuesday 2/28/17. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/.
