PENNY's Story...
Penny is as sweet as they come! She is calm, enjoys outdoors, walks (even with her short little legs) and has a huge heart and is ready to share it! She gets along great with kids and other dogs and would be happiest in a home with another doggy friend for companionship. We have not introduced her to cats but cannot imagine that she wouldn't want to be friends with them. She has such a joyful spirit, and deserves a wonderful family. She is kennel and house trained and ready for her fur-ever home. We simply can't say enough about our Penny to emphasize how truly amazing she is! Preference will be given to applicants with another dog with accompanying great vet reference, home ownership & fenced-in yard.

Penny was rescued from a rural outdoor-only shelter in Oklahoma where there is no adoption program. Dogs are held for two weeks and if not reclaimed by their owners, they are killed. There is no electricity, no shelter from the elements except a plastic dog house with hay, no volunteers to come walk them, and little to no chance of making it out alive. Dolly's Legacy is working hard to save them from a terrible fate and give them the chance they deserve at a happy life with loving families.

Penny is a Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen/Scottish Terrier/Poodle mix (our best guess on her mix of breeds). She has short legs and a long body, a face resembling a Scottie but the build of a PBGV, a low-rider. She has wavy black fur with white socks and received a trim after she arrived, so is sporting a shorter hairdo now. She is 1.5 yrs old and weighs 24 lbs. Penny is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, & dewormed. She is heartworm negative & has been given a ProHeart injection for 6 months of heartworm preventative protection. Adoption fee is $325.
