My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We have a 5 year old goldbar female chinchilla that is looking for her new home. She came to NWI a bit ago, and she was born in 2011. She is what is called a culled breeder – a large rancher used her for breeding, and was going to put her down when she stopped breeding, but instead, we picked her up (along with quite a few other females) and now she’s ready to go to her new home!

This girl’s color is called standard goldbar, which is a champagne-ish gold color (which can almost look white in the right light) over the back of the chinchilla, with a white belly.

We are told this girl was actually from a quality breeder of goldbars, but as she has started fur chewing, she was pulled from breeding. In the chinchilla breeding world, fur chewers are not bred. She does just fine with being handled, though she can be a bit nervous about being picked up. She sits nicely in your arms to be petted, provided that you have a secure hold on her. When set down for playtime, she will explore and she is curious, but she does so at more of a reserved pace. Sweet girl, doesn’t bite.

This chinchilla is currently living alone, and we do not know if she gets along with other chinchillas. If you are curious as to whether she might get along with your, or one of our, chinchillas, let us know and we’ll see what we can do.

This chinchilla would make a great “first chinchilla” for someone who’s never had chinchillas before.

This chinchilla will come with some food to start you out (2 pounds of Tradition pellets), a goodie bags of chews/treats, and a printed out version of our care packet. She will also come with a lifetime of help and support, should you ever need it. If more supplies are needed, we also sell a variety of chinchilla supplies, from cages to hidey houses to hammocks and everything in between.

Regardless of past chinchilla experience, all potential homes will be asked to read our chinchilla care packet and fill out our adoption application/chinchilla questionnaire. If you are unwilling to do this, please do not waste our time or yours. No chinchilla will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out - no exceptions.

This chinchilla is located in Hammond, Indiana (zip code 46324). We can ship chinchillas from Chicago O’Hare, to a major airport near you. Inquire if interested.

The adoption fee for this goldbar female chinchilla is $100
