My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We have a 6-7 year old standard grey female chinchilla that is looking for her new home. She came to NWI a bit ago, and she was born in 2010. She is what is called a culled breeder – a large rancher used her for breeding, and was going to put her down when she stopped breeding, but instead, we picked her up (along with quite a few other females) and now she’s ready to go to her new home!

This girl’s color is called standard grey, which is a salt and pepper color over her back, with a white belly.

She is a very sweet girl. She seems to enjoy scratches, at least for short little bursts. She’s a curious girl, and even with her age, we think she’d do great with playtime, because she just loves checking out new things! She does well with being handled and petted, though likes for you to have more of a secure grip on her. With a secure grip, she will sit nicely in your arms. As she is a curious girl, she does like to explore, and would more like to explore than to chill with you forever – so figure on lots of playtime to bond with this fluffball! Sweet girl, nice and fluffy. Super sweet, and did I mention she seems to like getting scratched? Isn’t that just adorable. Doesn’t bite.

This chinchilla is currently living alone, and we do not know if she gets along with other chinchillas. If you are curious as to whether she might get along with your, or one of our, chinchillas, let us know and we’ll see what we can do.

This chinchilla would make a great “first chinchilla” for someone who’s never had chinchillas before.

This chinchilla will come with some food to start you out (2 pounds of Tradition pellets), a goodie bags of chews/treats, and a printed out version of our care packet. She will also come with a lifetime of help and support, should you ever need it. If more supplies are needed, we also sell a variety of chinchilla supplies, from cages to hidey houses to hammocks and everything in between.

Regardless of past chinchilla experience, all potential homes will be asked to read our chinchilla care packet and fill out our adoption application/chinchilla questionnaire. If you are unwilling to do this, please do not waste our time or yours. No chinchilla will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out - no exceptions.

This chinchilla is located in Hammond, Indiana (zip code 46324). We can ship chinchillas from Chicago O’Hare, to a major airport near you. Inquire if interested.

The adoption fee for this standard grey female chinchilla is $75
