"I Will Survive" could be the anthem of this little girl! Found wandering alone in a soybean field in southern Arkansas is bad enough for an itty bitty, teeny tiny girl like Delilah. But when you realize that, in addition to her minuscule size, she's blind, her story of survival becomes quite miraculous. We'll never know why Delilah was on her own, or how she managed to stay alive in the face of all of those challenges, but now that she's safe with us we are singing right along with her!
Delilah is being fostered in a home with other dogs and she settled in right from the start. "All I have to say is this little girl adapts so easily!" writes her foster mom. "She wasted no time learning where the furniture is placed and where the door is. Her best friend is my poodle, Teddy. They wrestle and play all the time. He runs around her in the backyard and she tries to catch him! She has no interest in playing with toys -- when you have a BFF, that's all you need! She is very sweet and sleeps curled up next to me every night."
Delilah is so tiny -- only about 4 - 5 pounds -- and she's pretty mellow most of the time. She's not a run-up-to-greet-you type of girl but she is affectionate once she knows you. While at first she really enjoyed the resident Poodle, "familiarity breeds contempt" for Delilah so we are looking for a home where she will be the Only dog. We think she's about 6 years old, and she's a very healthy girl.
