My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi guys, my name is Tyson and I am about 1 years old and I am a Lab/Redbone Coon but I might have a little bit of Rhodesian Ridgeback in me because of two things: you can see the faintness of the ridge along my spine and I can run like the wind. Did you know it takes a Village of people to help dogs? Well, I had my Village. See, my original owners weren’t taking care of me. When I was just a mere pup and I stayed in my crate 24/7 in the garage. When someone found out about that she said, “I have to get him out of there”. So, she did; I call her my Angel. I had a horrible wound on my neck from my prong collar that dug into my neck and I was living in my mess. But when I left that I home I left that baggage behind because it didn’t affect me. Sure, my wound had to heal (and with proper vetting, TLC/love – it did). But my Angel knew she needed to expose me to a bigger Village and that was an animal Rescue so she contacted Illinois Animal Rescue. Now, I am in a foster home that has other dogs, small and big and boy oh boy am I having fun. I have not stopped playing. Playing is my middle name. But I am learning too. I knew how to SIT. Since in my foster home I’ve learned DOWN and my foster Mom is teaching me CATCH and WAIT. I catch better when I am standing not sitting. I am house trained, not food aggressive and really good with other dogs. I am very puppy like meaning I like to check things out and maybe somethings get into my mouth but just redirect me with what belongs in my mouth and I’m good. I take correction very well. See, I don’t need that prong collar. My foster Mom gives me a correction with her “uhh uhh” or that squirt bottle. I do need to work on my leash walking. Maybe that’s because I never been walked in my old home. Right now, I wear a harness but a better collar would teach me. I like hanging out with other dogs so another dog can teach me how to walk well on a lead. Or better yet, when you adopt me you can take me to doggie training! Oh, that would be awesome! I would love to have a forever home. I think that’s the last part of my Village. It takes a whole bunch of people to help dogs and I hope you can help me; help me find my forever home. I am a very playful boy but if you let me on the couch with you I like to snuggle with you too. I will put my head on your leg and just chew my antler while you are relaxing. If you would like to meet me you will need to fill out an adoption application and to do that go to: www.illinoisanimalrescue.org then my foster Mom will set up our play date. Cheers, Tyson.

Tyson is in our foster home in Bolingbrook. Please visit our website to fill out our adoption application at: www.illinoisanimalrescue.org.
