Snuggle bug alert!!! Meet sweet Tinkerbell! Tinkerbell is about 2 years old and she weighs around 16 pounds. We think that she is a Westie/Parson Russel Terrier mix, but we can’t be sure. What we do know is that she is as cute as can be. She seems to have a mix of hair and fur on her body and she does shed. She’s a pretty little girl with soulful eyes.

We don’t think that Tinkerbell has had the best experiences in her young life so far. Tinkerbell was found abandoned in a building in the city. She was skinny and dirty. The shelter terrified her and she was very shut down. When her foster mom saw her picture, she knew that Tinkerbell just needed a little time to decompress in a quiet home. She also needed time to realize that not all people are scary. A little love and patience did the trick for this timid little girl.

Tinkerbell is still very shy and timid when she first meets people. She is the kind of dog that will attach to “her person”. She will welcome others, as long as she can go to her person for comfort. If she is nervous, she will simply retreat from the approaching person and hide between her person’s legs; she is not aggressive in any way. With encouragement she will greet and often offer a quick little kiss to her new friend. Once you are in her circle of trust, she is a ball of kisses, wiggle, and wags; but she will still seek out her person to make sure everything is okay and to be comforted.

While Tinkerbell is shy, she is still a puppy. She will still need lots of playtime and walks to get her energy out. In her foster home she enjoys zipping around the house to get her “zoomies” out! When she first came to her foster home, she didn’t know what toys were. Now she enjoys chasing toys and chewing on them! She also loves to go for walks outside. She is getting better and better while walking on leash. She’s not much of a puller, but she will get under your feet while walking. Tinkerbell lives with two other big dogs in her foster home. She absolutely adores them! She is dog friendly and she has great energy around other dogs she meets. If a dog has a little too much energy for her, she will simply walk away (and once again seek out her person). Tinkerbell is about 95% housetrained. She will do best with scheduled trips outside to go to the bathroom outside. Also, when she is approached too quickly, or if she gets scared, she will submissively pee. Tinkerbell will need a person who will take their time with her and teach her that she does not need to be afraid.

Tinkerbell enjoys meeting people and she likes children. Because Tinkerbell is so timid, we feel that she would do best in a quiet home with older children. A constant flow of people coming and going in a home may overwhelm Tinkerbell. It will be important for her person or family to continue to expose Tinkerbell to all people. She loves when she gets to go with her foster family to watch her human foster brother play baseball. This is great exposure for her and she enjoys every moment of it!

Tinkerbell is ready to start her life with a family that will take the time to understand her and help her though her fears. She is an extremely loving dog who adores snuggling with her foster family. If you think that you would like to provide Tinkerbell with the loving home that she deserves, please fill out an application and come meet her at our next adoption day event.
