My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Clark came to us from an overcrowded kill shelter in west central Illinois. No time to spare -- his euthanizing day was approaching. Clark, along with his brother Lewis, are American Foxhounds. Both with tricolor coat and 11 months old. Still a pup. His present weigh is 53 pounds. A bit more sociable than his brother Lewis, we believe he too was abused. Crate trained and slowly learning to walk on leash. Best permanent adopting home would be with another playful loving dog that can help him (by observation) overcome any uncertainty of people. A family with patients and alot of positive reinforcement would work. He definitely warms up to positive reinforcement! Large securely fenced yard is suggested. Most hounds like to track or follow a scent oblivious to surroundings. Neutered, vaccines up to date and heartworm negative. Adoption fee $160. <><><><> Breed Info: The Foxhound is usually well-mannered in the home. He gets along best with human or canine companionship. They are tolerant, friendly, gentle and sensitive dogs. Generally, American Foxhounds tolerate the poking and prodding of children rather well. We've heard of young children learning to walk by holding onto a Foxhounds upright tail! Not real demonstrative pooches though. Some can become couch potatoes as they age. They quickly jump from the couch if you mention "outside"! Most are reserved with strangers. They are highly sociable and should never be expected to live without human or canine companionship.
