Hello! My name is Skittles. I am cute as a button!! I am a 4 year old terrier mix and weigh only 16 pounds, making me perfect for apartment or condo life. Things I love are car rides, going for walks, meeting other dogs and snuggling. I have an average energy level but can be a little excitable at times. I do a happy dance on my hind legs followed by a burst of barking and running around when I see my favorite people. Give me a few minutes to collect myself, and I will settle right down and remember that I am a well-behaved gentleman.Crate-trained, I will go in on my own to nap in my bed. I have also been good when left gated in the kitchen. I could probably be given the run of the house but my foster mom doesn't trust me that far yet. I have only been here a few days and did a little marking my first day. I am nearly perfect but I do have a few flaws. I will admit that I like to lunge and bark at passing trucks when out for a walk but other than that I walk really nicely on a leash or harness.I am a great backseat passenger in the car and a snuggle buddy if you care to share your bed with me at night. I am not one of those dogs who stretches out and takes up the whole bed or sticks his legs into your ribs. I curl up in a little ball next to your head or under your butt. It is so nice and warm there!
More than anything, I want a forever home. I have been adopted but lost my home when my owner crossed the Rainbow Bridge ahead of me. I have so much love to give and will brighten your home with my cuteness and winning personality. My dream owner would be someone who is kind, patient, loving and knows how to set limits. Because I am so stinkin' cute, people tend to spoil me. Like any spoiled kid, I can get a bit demanding so I beg of you, don't let me get away with stuff. Insist that I behave nicely to earn your attention and yummy treats. Don't let me get things by barking or bullying. I know how to be a good boy but I will test the limits if you let me.
Up to date on all vaccines, negative for heartworm and Lyme disease, neutered and micro-chipped too, I am ready to roll. If you need a handsome little guy in your life, fill out an adoption application right away. A hot little number like me will not last long. Can't wait to meet you!

We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
