Rocco came from a hoarding situation where most of the dogs were hairless due to fleas and living conditions. In fact, his nails were so long he could barely walk. As soon as we got him, we clipped his nails, gave him a bath and got rid of those fleas . . . and he was so grateful! He went into his crate and stayed the night without a peep. By the second day, he became friends with the other dogs at his foster home . . . and has never looked back.
Rocco is a very sweet boy but because of his early days, he usually takes just a minute to warm up to someone new. He doesn't bark or put up a fuss at new people -- he just kind of avoids them for a minute. Once he warms up and lets you in his "inner circle" he can't get enough! He'll sit on your lap and let you rub his belly until he falls asleep. He's not a kisser, but, oh, that smile!!
Rocco gets along well with other small dogs and would do best in a home where he had a doggy companion. He loves to run and play in the yard at his foster home. And he loves learning new tricks: his latest is “Da me cinco,” which means “Give me five” in Spanish, and he proceeds to reach out and actually give a high five! He sleeps on the bed with his foster parents but he prefers his own covers; he has a blanket that he balls up at the end of the bed and burrows up in it, all cozy.
Rocco is about a year old, he weighs about 10 pounds and he is a very healthy boy. We have no idea what his true mix is, but he is perfect the way he is!
