My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Polly is a petite and loving BEAUTY, searching for her perfect forever home. This sweet, gentle little girl is stunningly beautiful with her exceptional brindle markings and soulful chocolatey eyes. She has the cutest little under bite, which causes the tip of her tongue to stick out when she sleeps - melting her foster family's heart. Polly absolutely adores being around people - she follows her foster mom around, curls up on her foster dad's lap, and sleeps with her foster teenager at night (even on the first night, she curled up next to him and didn't make a peep until he woke up the next morning). She doesn't seem to be bothered by much of anything and has done amazingly well in her noisy, busy foster home, in fact this girl literally lights up whenever she sees people!

Polly responds very well to direction and is adjusting wonderfully to being in a home. She gets along with most other dogs, cats, and children of all ages (she especially loves her foster toddler and preschooler). Polly would do fine in a home with other animals, but would be great as an only dog too. She is working on (and doing quite well) on crate training, seems to be potty-trained (going to the door whenever she needs to go out), is a great car passenger, and is learning how to walk on a leash like a professional. We think Polly would make an awesome agility dog or running partner as she is very agile and energetic when outside, but settles down and is very calm and affectionate while inside the house. Polly will make some lucky person/family a lovely addition as she is a precious gem!

Polly was rescued from a high intake rural outdoor shelter in Southeastern Missouri where she was on death row. There is no adoption program there, her only way out was to be rescued. Dolly's Legacy is honored to have saved her life and have promised her a happy home.

Polly appears to be a Mountain Cur or mix thereof, weighs 26 lbs (but needs to put on weight) and is estimated at 12 months old. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative, dewormed and tested negative for heartworm disease. Adoption fee is $250.
